Mission of the Week: Chiapas Work Crew
Today is "Sanctity of Human
Life" Sunday. Let’s continue to pray for the end of legalized murder of the
unborn!
The Choir began practice for an Easter musical last Wed.
night. If you would like to participate, please come this week. We only have
2 months to get this program ready.
There will be an important organizational meeting next
Sunday for a volunteer Youth Leadership Team. All officers, parents,
teachers, and interested volunteer workers are asked to stay for this
meeting immediately after the morning service next week.
Are You Committed to Following Jesus?
Matthew 4:18-22
What does it mean to be "committed?" It means to be devoted, loyal, and
involved. In our world today, fewer and fewer are truly committed. But, the
early disciples of Jesus were!
I. Initial Commitment
A. We must count the cost. (Luke 14:26-33)
B. There’s a twofold meaning of being a disciple.
C. To live for Christ, we must first die to self.
(Gal. 2:20; II Cor. 5:15-16)
D. The greatest commandment is to love God first and foremost.
(Mk. 12:28-31)
E. The Lord demands our "all!" (I Cor. 10:31)
F. With "purpose of heart" we "cleave unto the Lord." (Acts
11:23)
II. Life long commitment
G. It is not a sprint, it is a marathon. (Heb. 12:1-2)
H. Paul finished his course! (II Tim. 4:6-8)
I. We must keep on growing.
(Eph. 4:13; II Peter 1:3-11)
When you are truly converted and committed, it simplifies your life
considerably. Certain decisions will not have to be made, because they’ve
already been decided. It takes real commitment, but it brings the most
reward! Decide today to follow Jesus with all your heart!
