Weighed In The Balances
Daniel 5:1-7, 25-31
Belshazzar the King made a feast for a thousand of his lords and profaned
the holy vessels of God’s temple. Many today are also guilty of profaning
the Holy Scriptures. God’s hand interrupted their drinking with an unusual
writing on the wall. Daniel interpreted the handwriting for the king, and
what he said came true. Belshazzar had been weighed in the balances, and
found wanting. What is your spiritual weight?
The scale of others (I Cor. 4:2-5)
The scale of works (Luke 17:7-10)
The scale of conscience (Prov. 16:2; 14:12)
The scale of adversity. (Matt. 13:20-21)
The scale of prosperity (I Tim. 6:17-19)
The scale of the Bible (Acts. 2:38; Matt. 5:8;
Acts 26:28)
How much will you weigh on God’s scales on judgment day? Just one sin
weighs more than a ton of lead. Your good deeds, thought they number in the
millions, cannot atone for your sins. You need Jesus to stand on the scales
with you. His blood alone can atone for all your sin. Trust in Him
and obey Him now!
