Reaching Our Goals
Colossians 1:24-29

Setting and reaching goals is an important part of any successful life.  “Goals determine what you are going to be.”  Jesus had goals, and so did Paul.  Our congregation needs to study those goals and apply those principles in our present situation.

I.                     What is the goal of our ministry?

A.     Paul’s goal was to present the whole church perfect in Christ Jesus.

1.      Preaching Christ

2.      Teaching God’s word

B.     Three parts to Paul’s ultimate goal:

1.      “Admonishing every man.” (I PE 2:1-2;

      II PE 1:5-10)

2.      “Teaching every man with all wisdom.”

      (MT 28:20; I COR 14:37)

3.      “Present all men complete in Christ.”

II.                   How do we reach that goal?

A.     “To this end I labor.” (II COR 11:27-29)

B.     A new and larger building

1.      Consider the past

2.      Visualize the future

3.      Step out in faith

The key to the successful outcome of Paul’s ministry and ours is found in Colossians 1:29.  It must be God’s power, but we must allow His power to work in us!  He receives all the honor, glory, and praise (EPH 3:21).  “ And He can do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think according to the power that works in us.” (EPH 3:20)  Is His power and His Spirit at work in you?  Trust and obey Him and you will see what good things He can do for you!
