Under Construction
Philippians 2:12-13
In building a Christian life, two things must happen. God
must work and man must work. And as Christians, we are all still under
construction. Now any contractor knows that in order to construct a building
of any kind, you have to have tools. And today we want to consider three
basic tools used in construction in a spiritual way.
I. Level –
balance in life (Eccl. 3:1-8)
A. Work
B. Bible study, worship, prayer
C. Family
D. Recreation and rest
II. Tape measure
– what to cut and what not to cut
E. God measures a man’s heart (I Sam. 16:6-7)
F. How do we measure up to Christ? (II Cor.
10:12; 3:18)
G. We all have more growing to do (Phil. 3:12-14)
III. Hammer –
drive and pull nails
H. Drive the nails of His commands (Eccl. 12:11)
1. Psalm 19:7-11
2. Matt. 22:37-40
I. Pull the crooked nails of sin and bad habits
1. Heb. 12:1
2. I Jn. 2:15-17
We are in a "Construction Zone". God is still
working on us if we are allowing Him to do His perfect work. He wants to
build us all into vessels of honor, service, and worship. Let Him work on
you!
