‘Til Death We Do Part

Mark 10:2-9

In an age when so many marriages end in divorce, there seems to be a lot of people who feel they married the wrong person. This may be the case. However, a lasting marriage depends a lot on our attitude as well as our choice of spouse. If you want your marriage to last, here are some things you should do:

Be aware of and determined to cope with change.

A. Marriage is "for better or worse."

1. Change will occur and some changes are hard to accept.

2. Determination to accept change is necessary to success.

B. Determine to grow old together.

Learn to accept what cannot be changed.

C. Some characteristics or circumstances will not change.

D. Learn to be content, not bitter.

Express affection and appreciation toward your mate throughout your life.

E. You will live better, and maybe longer!

F. I Peter 3:7

Be committed to a permanent relationship.

G. Marriage is a permanent commitment.

H. Marriage is for intimacy and security.

Commit yourself to God with all your heart.

I. Put Christ first in your marriage … then your spouse.

J. Your faith and commitment to God makes your commitment to your spouse more intense.

Your marriage can be great! The Bible reveals how. The Bible also reveals God’s salvation plan. Believe in Christ and confess faith in Him, repent and be baptized for the forgiveness of sins and live in the Spirit of Christ.
