Happy Birthday America!
Beginning next Sunday, Jerry will begin a 4 week sermon series on
"Extreme Home Makeover." Home improvement involves much more than just
working on our physical houses!
Our next church picnic will be July 17th at 5 pm at the
shelter. We will also have the waterslide that afternoon at 3 pm.
Tonight you are invited to a picnic sponsored by Treap Contracting at the
picnic shelter after our evening service, about 7:30. Hot dogs and drinks
will be provided … bring a side dish if you like.
There will be a Swimming Party for all ages on July 30th from
5-7 pm at the City Pool. No two piece swimwear please. Anyone interested in
helping with refreshments, contact Summer Stump
There’s A War Going On!
II Corinthians 10:3-5
There’s a war going on. In fact, there are two wars going
on. Militarily, we are at war, and spiritually, we are at war. In the
spiritual war, we are battling against every high thought that exalts itself
against the knowledge of God. We are trying to bring into captivity every
thought to the obedience of Christ. And the weapons we use in this conflict
are the Word of God and prayer, faith and knowledge, truth and
righteousness, and the gospel of peace. Sometimes we wonder why God allows
our enemy to have so many victories in the various battles we fight. Today,
we want to suggest three reasons why God doesn’t do more to stop the attacks
of Satan.
I. He doesn’t want us to forget that there is
a real war going on!
A. Eph. 6:12-13
B. Too many are too complacent!
C. God is concerned – we should be also!
II. God’s people need to struggle.
D. I Cor. 11:19
E. Conflict produces strength
F. I Peter 4:12-13
III. God wants us to be serious about prayer!
G. Pray on a worldwide scale!
H. I Tim. 2:1-2; James 4:2-3
I. II Ch. 7:14
Although we may not win every battle, we know who wins
the war (Rev. 17:14). Are you a part of the called, chosen and faithful?
Enlist today!
