Beginning in August, we will be having a Sunday School Contest "Go For The GOAL!" We’ll have two teams (Blue & White) competing for the best attendance. The losing team will treat the winning team to a special dinner in October.

The Sunday night and Wednesday night classes will also be having an Individual Competition in 3 age divisions, and students will receive points for attendance in their classes, bringing visitors, bringing Bibles to class, learning memory work, and having family devotions or personal Bible reading. Packets will be given to every student the last Wednesday or Sunday night of July with all of the information they will need about their memory work and devotional readings for the entire contest (2 months). Each age group will have a WINNER, runner- up and honorable mention, with nice awards for each! Captains for each division are: Preschool – Grade 1 – Sarah Bliffen; Grades 2-6 – Laverne Dye; Grades 7-12 – Debbie Treap. Students will recite memory work to their captains on Wednesday nights, the last 15 minutes of their class time. PARENTS, a lot depends on YOU helping your children! This is a great opportunity to help frame Christian values into your young ones’ minds!

This Saturday night from 5-7 pm there will be a Swimming Party at City Pool for all ages. See Summer Stump if you would like to help provide refreshments.

Extreme Home Makeover

"Framing Godly Values into Our Children"

Deuteronomy 6:1-7

When framing or remodeling a house, you must have a plan to follow. And so it is in building a home. God’s Word has the plan for your home that will meet the needs of everyone in your family perfectly.

I.  Put Things in Proper Order

A. God must be FIRST (Deut. 6:4; Matt. 22:37),

B. Your spouse must be second.

C. As parents, children are our third priority.

D. Our career is also important.

E. Christian service must also be on our list of priorities.

II.  The Priority of Loving Your Children

F. Time – There is no substitute for quality time.

G. Attention – Children need the attention of their parents.

H. Listening – If you want them to listen to you, you need to listen to them!

I. Training – Our example teaches best.

J. Encouragement – Find ways to praise and encourage your kids.

III.  The priority of Discipline

K. Proverbs 22:15; 13:24; 19:18

L. Bad behavior must be punished.

IV.  The Priority of Some Absolutes. What?

A.

B.

C.

Parents can frame godly values into their children. It is not easy, but it can be done! Develop and maintain a close relationship with your children and let God’s Word be your guide!
