Seven "Ifs" of John 14

John 14:1-9

Many of the blessings of God are conditional. "If" is a conditional word, and parents often use this word in getting their children to obey. Jesus used the word "if" seven times in John 14, and we can learn a lot about what HE expects from us before He blesses our lives in specific ways.

I.  "If it were not so" (v. 2)

A. Jesus always tells the truth.

B. Mark 16:16

II.  "If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again." (v. 3)

C. The Lord has prepared a place for His people.

D. He is the way, the truth and the life.

III.  "If you had known me, you would have known my Father also." (v. 7)

E. You can know the Father by the Son.

F. Do you know Him?

IV.  "If you ask anything in my name, I will do it." (v. 14)

G. I John 5:14-15

H. When you pray, be Biblically correct.

V.  "If you love me, keep my commandments." (v. 15)

I. We must prove our love.

J. I John 5:3

VI.  "If anyone loves me, he will keep my word." (v. 23)

K. Suppose the Lord showed us the same unconcern we show Him.

L. Hebrews 10:25

VII.  "If you loved me, you would rejoice." (v. 28)

M. If we love someone, we want the best for that person.

N. II Cor. 5:8

The question for you today is, have you made Jesus your Lord by keeping His commandments?" If not, then obey today!
