We welcome two new members to our church family here at Coal Run. Tyler Gannon was baptized on Sept. 8th and Robbie Scott on Sept. 18th. Pray for them in their new walk with the Lord.

Congratulations to Virgil and Trena Ray on the birth of their son, Luke Arnold. He was born Wednesday morning and weighed 8 lbs.

It’s time to bring in Christmas gifts for high school students at Sonshine Christian Academy in Haiti. A box has been placed in the foyer for the gifts. They will be shipped in October so bring in your donations soon.

There will be a meeting for high school and college age students and adult sponsors who would be interested in going on a Florida Work Trip, Dec. 26 – Jan. 1 after the morning service in Jerry’s office.

Serving in October:

Communion Preparation – Ken & Iva Dee Greenhill

Bus Driver – Buck Jones

Communion Meditation – Homer Edmonds

Jesus and YOU

John 18:1-11

The 18th chapter of John tells of the collision course of Judas, Peter, Annas, and Pilate with Jesus. But it could also be about the collision course of Jesus and YOU … for in one or more of these characters, you may see a reflection of yourself!

I.  Jesus and Judas

A. Jesus went to the Garden of Gethsemane.

B. Adam was in the Garden of Eden.

1. Adam tried to hide from God.

2. The 2nd Adam did not hide.

II.  Jesus and Annas

C. Annas wanted to know about His disciples and His doctrine.

D. His doctrine was no secret.

III.  Jesus and Peter

E. Peter was cold.

F. Many today have grown cold to spiritual things.

IV.  Jesus and Pilate

G. "Did someone else tell thee concerning me?"

H. "I find no fault in this man."

Where do you fit in this story of Judas, Annas, Peter and Pilate? Are there changes YOU need to make? Don’t betray Jesus; don’t ignore His doctrine; don’t deny him and grow cold; and don’t try to wash your hands of the whole thing. Repent of your sin, confess your faith, obey Him in baptism, and live a faithful, active Christian life!
