All Under Sin
Rom. 3:9-26
The theme of the book of Romans is "justification by obedient faith." But
before dealing with the subject of salvation, Paul first establishes the
fact that man is lost in sin (chapters 1-3). In our text today, Paul deals
with the state of sin, the practice of sin, the results of sin, and the
remission of sins.
I. The State of Sin (v. 9-12)
A. Everyone is guilty! (Is. 53:6; 64:6; Rom. 3:23; I Jn. 1:8)
B. No one is good enough who has committed even one sin.
II. The Practice of Sin (v. 13-15)
C. In Word
1. Deceit
2. Cursing
3. Bitterness
D. In Deed
III. The Results of Sin (v. 16-18)
E. Physical punishment – "destruction and misery"
F. Mental punishment – "no peace"
G. Spiritual punishment – "no fear of God"
IV. The Remission of Sins (v. 20-26)
H. Not by the law
I. By His grace
J. Through our obedient faith
What kind of sinner are you? Unforgiven? Still lost and without hope? Or
are you a Christian, striving every day to overcome sin in your life? You
know and God certainly knows. Today you can be forgiven through the blood of
Christ! Receive His cleansing today!
