The Pikeville Church of Christ invites you to a Christmas Eve service Friday at 5:30 pm.

The Zebulon Church of Christ will host the annual Watch Night service at 8 pm Dec. 31. Singers from Coal Run who plan to participate need to notify Jerry or Shane in advance.

There will be a brief meeting today after church in Jerry’s office for all those going on the FL Work Trip next week.

The History of Christmas

Luke 1:26-38

At Christmas time we celebrate the incarnation of Jesus Christ … God becoming man and living among us. It is the most celebrated holiday in the world. But how did it all get started and how should I observe it?

I.  Its’ history

A. The winter solstice

B. Christ Mass

C. Early Christians did not celebrate it.

II.  A reasonable response

D. Some say ignore it.

E. How did Jesus observe the "feast of dedication?" (Jn. 10:22-24)

F. Romans 14:5-6

III.  A more important remembrance

G. Jesus was born to die for our sins.

H. We remember His death in the Lord’s Supper on the Lord’s day

I. Accepting Christ means more than a seasonal devotion.

Don’t forget about Jesus --- now, or any other time. Jesus must be Lord of all or He is not Lord at all. Make Him your Lord and Savior today!
