How Is Your Heart?

Psalm 51:7-13

In recent years we have been constantly warned about the dangers of heart disease. We are told to watch the foods we eat, stop smoking, and exercise regularly. There have been many medical advances in recent years for the treatment of heart disease. However, our spiritual heart is far more important than our physical heart.

I.  We need to watch for warning signs of heart trouble!

B. Covetousness, greediness, selfishness (Acts. 5:1-5)

D. Evil deeds (II Ch. 12:14; Matt. 15:19)

E. Sad countenance (Pr. 15:13)

F. Feeling far from God (Heb. 10:22)

II.  How can we keep our hearts healthy?

G. Purpose in your heart. (Dan. 1:8)

H. Guard your heart. (Pr. 4:23)

I. Keep God’s word in your heart. (Pr. 7:3)

J. Have faith that God will lead. (Ps. 28:7)

III.  What if our hearts are not healthy?

K. Repent and receive a new heart! (Ez. 18:31)

L. Make time for daily Bible reading (listening) and prayer! (I John 1:9)
