How Should I Worship God?

Isaiah 6:1-8

Millions of people assemble together in local churches every Sunday for the purpose of worshipping God. And yet, many of those will not worship God at all. Today, we want to consider an event in the life of Isaiah and learn more about how we should worship our God.

I.  Worship is looking up (in awe & reverence). 6:1-4

A. There are two aspects of God’s nature that seem to be opposites.

1. His transcendence

2. His immanence (Ps. 113:4-7)

B. We must have a proper attitude of reverence.

II.  Worship is owning up (to what we are and aren’t). 6:5

C. Peter experienced the presence of God’s power in Luke 5.

D. Isaiah realized at least three things:

1. He was lost on his own.

2. He was a sinner.

3. He was among other sinners.

III.  Worship is looking back (in remembrance of grace). 6:7

E. We cannot worship God without His grace! (I Jn. 1:9)

F. We need to be "washed" by Jesus Christ!

IV.  Worship is going forth (in service). 6:8

G. A wedding ceremony is not a marriage.

H. Our "worship services" are not just our assemblies on Sunday; they are what we do every day!

Our lives are to be lived in worship to God in preparation for the eternal worship of heaven. You cannot really worship God when you ignore His word and His ways. Today, you can change that and begin a new life of true worship and service to our God!
