"Remodeling Our Speech"

Proverbs 25:11

Never underestimate the power of the spoken word. God created the world by speaking it into being. Words have power to build up or to destroy! (Proverbs 12:18; 12:25; 15:23; 18:21) What we say about ourselves and others has an enormous impact on our lives and our family! If we want to give our homes a makeover, we must begin by remodeling our speech.

I.  "Words" and the Bible

A. "Man cannot live by bread alone …" (Mt. 4:4)

B. "By your words you will be justified …" (Mt. 12:37)

C. "You have the words of eternal life." (Jn. 6:68)

D. "Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth …" (Eph. 4:29)

II.  The Power of the Tongue

G. Replace old 4-letter words with new ones

· "love"

· "care"

· "hugs"

· "kiss"

III.  Be a blessing to your family

H. Jacob wanted His father’s blessing.

I. Children should not have to perform well to receive "blessing" words from their parents!

J. Speak a blessing and pray for a blessing.

K. Don’t be too busy to communicate with your family!

L. The majority of young people want to spend more time with their parents!

God has spoken many blessings to us in His precious Word! Jeremiah 29:11; 31:3, Isaiah 43:1-3; Mt. 11:28-30 … to name a few. Will you receive His greatest blessing --- salvation and eternal life?
