Extreme Home Makeover Overcoming Pride and Anger Proverbs 24:22-23; Ecclesiastes 7:8-9 The Bible links pride and anger together as harmful attitudes that can destroy a man. Both of these characteristics are dangerous to every home and every individual within the home. Pride and anger were involved in the first murder that tore apart the first human family. We learn of this tragic event in Genesis 4:1-8. I. Two Men A. Cain, the firstborn son. B. Abel II. Two offerings C. An offering from the fruit of the ground D. The firstborn of the flock III. Two outcomes E. Cain’s offering rejected. Why? F. Abel’s offering – "more excellent" (Heb. 11:4) 1. Worship in spirit and in truth! 2. The main event is glorifying God! IV. Two choices G. Cain was angry, but he could repent. 1. He did not --- sin ruled over him. 2. James 1:19-20 H. Cain’s anger led to murder. 1. Matthew 5:21-22 2. Anger costs too much!
